Luxor Temples

After sleeping in, we greeted a cooler windy day. It was nice to get the chance to sleep in a bit and to explore the hotel area before getting back on the bus. At most meals we’ve enjoyed pita pocket bread. At the hotel we saw the lady who makes it, we also discovered a wonderful view of the Nile on the other side of the swimming pool. Though we never had time to use it.

Our first point of exploration was the Karnak Temple. This is the largest temple complex ever built. It was a place of worship as well as the residence, center of administration, treasury, and key-stone of the economy employing tens of thousands of workers for the Pharaohs. It was once connected to the Lexor Temple by the venue of ram headed sphinxes two miles away, which was our second stop. This is one of the most beguiling of all Egypt’s monuments. It is believed that Jospeh when he was sold by his brothers into slavery as well as Moses spent time at both of these temples.

Following our exploration of the temples and lunch, we learned about perfume oils at the Alfayed Palace Perfume Oils. Here pure oils are extracted from flowers and herbs used for medical and cosmetic purposes.

Our ay ended with a flight from Luxor back to Cairo for dinner and a good nights rest before our last day in Egypt.
