LindaRose and COPA Captain Mike Rickman

After breakfast we leave for Panama City. The weather is cool in El Valle but we´re expecting tropical Miami-like weather when we get to the capital. We spent seven dollars for bus fare and promptly found our hotel in the Panama Canal Zone, Hostal Amador. The hotel is charming with two wrought iron double beds in our room, a bathtub, and air conditioning. The building was housing for servicemen when the US occupied the Canal Zone.

As soon as we got dressed up we headed for lunch at Jimmy´s and some gambling at the Veneto Casino in the Wyndham Hotel. We met Kenneth Morriss, the general manager of the casino, at Chorro Macho waterfalls in El Valle yesterday. He gave us his card and told us to ask for him if we made visited the casino. We had to follow up on this one!

We enjoyed the free cocktails and each came away a few dollars richer.

While in the casino, we met a COPA Airlines pilot who told us to be sure to go to The Wine Bar for a wine tasting and Italian food. He joined us there and we enjoyed a taste of a Malbec that resembled a port wine and two bottles of Chianti over dinner. We had lots of laughs and ended up in hysterics more than once, even tossing LindaRose´s newly purchased undies into the wine vat at one point.

Another busy and festive day of our trip!
