Wednesday February 4
We were invited and accepted to stay another day with Kevin and Anne. It was a relaxing start and nice taking our time doing the diary and reading the newspaper.
Kevin worked at home in the morning and after lunch Gary and Kevin drove off to play a round of golf at the Port Fairy Golf Club, a links type course where Kevin is a member.
Heather spent the afternoon looking around downtown Warrnambool, and especially enjoyed the Art Gallery temporary exhibit on “Victorians on Vacation” and learned a few things including a new word; pteridomania “fern fancying”. Of interest in the permanent collection of the Gallery was the original painting of Tower Hill by Eugene Von Guerard (we had seen a copy of this painting at the information centre at Tower Hill yesterday).
After dinner we updated the trip journal while Kevin, Anne and Judith (who we met on Monday) and another friend Tony enjoyed their regular Wednesday night ‘playing music together’ (various guitars, bongo drums, ukulele). Their band will be playing at a neighbourhood breakfast party in a few weeks, so their Wednesday evenings serve as rehearsal time. It was fun to listen to.
Later in the evening Gary joined in and played too; he really liked Kevin’s new Stratocaster. Heather knows what to buy him for his 60th birthday when it arrives!
