On Monday I took a tour to the Navua River in Fiji. We drove on a bus for three hours closer to the capital of Fiji, Suva. Then they took us in a long cigarette style motor boat up the Navua River to a Fijian village.

At the village we were greeted by the people with the traditional Kava ceremony. They then showed us around their village and told us some of their history and how they came to be. The young children go to kindergarten in the village and they performed a welcome song for us. Adorable!!!

They then served us a lunch which was partial cooked in their traditional style underground. We saw one of the village men climb a palm tree in a matter of seconds with nothing other than his bare hands. He picked some coconuts for us and cracked them open for us to drink the fresh milk. They then performed a dance for us in grass skirts, and then had us join in with them. I was lucky to have one village boy ask me to dance, he was 9yrs.old.

We then got back in our boats and left the village. We headed further up the river. We walked along side a smaller creek up the side of the river that led us to an enormous waterfall. It was beautiful! I jumped in and swam. It took all my might and multiple attempts but finally I was able to swim into the waterfall and stand underneath it for a few moments.....it was a true "I'm in FIJI moment!"

After we cooled off in the water we jumped on some bamboo rafts, like the natives used to use and still play with, and took the river back down to where we began. It was an amazing day!

The next day was my last day in Fiji and I spent it just relaxing by the pool and enjoying the perfect weather.
