The sun is out and it is about 78 degrees. We have finally escaped the weather system. Today the 3 of us attended 2 different lectures. The first given by Apollo 9 Astronaut Russell "Rusty" Schweickart about the Appollo 9 mission and subsequest missions along with a great slide show of his own photographs from space. The second lecture was given by Maritime Historian John Maxtone-Graham on the construction and operation of the Panama Canal. This was also accompanied by a great slide show of construction and operations after completion. He also covered the current expansion of the Panama Canal. Tomorrow starting at 7 am we will begin our transit of the Panama Canal, starting at the Gatun Locks. Tina took first place in the golf chipping contest, what a surprise.
