View across the San Catalina range

Looking down on the desert

Another view from the road

Snow on them there hills!

Our final day in the Tucson area was to drive the Sky Island Scenic Byway to Mount Lemmon. The trip up the mountain can be compared to a trip from Mexico to Canada with vegetation ranging from the giant Saguaro cactus in the lowland deserts to pine, spruce and fir at the highest elevations.

The road had many overlooks giving views over Tucson and across the San Catalina Mountain range. Our elevation change over the journey was well over 6,000 feet so you can imagine we found snow at the top.
