A shuttle van picked us up in Granada for the 35-minute ride to Lake Apoyo. It is much cooler out here at the lake and our accommodations couldn´t be nicer.
We are staying at Crater´s Edge Resort in the same room that we had last year. The owner, Ann Thorne, is from Vancouver and is a wonderful host. We had a box lunch served in a basket on a banana leaf. At the beach bar the Toña beer was cold and the breeze was strong. We met the other guests who are spending the night and we will all meet for dinner at 6:30. Tonight we are having Nicaragua style beef and LindaRose thoughtfully brought a bottle of wine to drink.
Lake Apoyo is 48 square kilometers in size. It is the water trapped inside the crater of Volcan Apoyo. It is the deepest point in Central America, 600 feet deep.
