On the Road 2009 travel blog

We left Guadalajara for a long series of flights that took us from Guadalajara to Mexico City, Panama City, and finally Managua, Nicaragua. We checked in to our hotel Hostal San Angel, a very plain and friendly place just off the main square. Orlando Galeano, our host, was waiting for us when the shuttle dropped us off at 8 PM. Our room has two beds, a fan, and a cold shower. No need for any hot water in this climate! Our room costs 18 US dollars a night and includes a light breakfast of juice, fruits, and toast. Welcome to Nicaragua!

Linda Rose and I dropped our bags and went to El Quijote for a nightcap. Two glasses of wine and two beers cost four dollars and change. The real adventures start tomorrow.
