Hello to All,

Well, we pulled out of Maryville this morning about 9AM heading south. Our plans were to stop in Cordele, Ga. tonight and head on down to Port Charlotte, Florida on the 2nd and hang out with Chris's Sister Marie and her husband Cecil.

Sometime on the 4th we plan on heading on down to Miami and Key West for a few days.

We tried to book some hotels in Key West but there are none to be found that will take a small pet (Chad). So, we will most likely base camp out of south Miami and take a day trip down to Key West to check out the sights and sunset later in the week.

Today the trip went just great and our travel time to Cordele was a little over 6 hours. Fuel along I-75 ranged from 1.39 to 1.60 for unleaded, and 2.16 to 2.56 for diesel. I remember last year we were paying double that in this neck of the woods.

After arriving at the Best Western in Cordele, we took a short trip over the Georgia Veterans State Park to check on the construction of the SAMS Short Line Train stop at the park. As all of you may remember we spent 2 months last year working here on the SAM Excursion Train. Back in May they were just beginning to lay the foundation for the stop and we didn't get a chance to see the finished product. Also, they were to put a gate at the entrance to the train site in the park for security.

We found both of these projects completed and looking real good. The SAM Excursion Train is not running during the month of January so, we didn't get a chance to see the folks at the depot. We are planning to work on the train again this year most likely in October.

Also, we tried to hook up with train volunteers "Bear" and Mary Beth, who live near the park, but, they were not at home. So we were a bit disappointed about that. Maybe we can see them on the trip back North.

Our room at the Best Western here in Cordele is just wonderful. We left the RV at home in order to make this quick trip. Chad is being a great travel companion for us and he just loves to stretch out on the bed in the motel. YES!!! We are staying at a pet friendly motel....they are very hard to find especially in Florida and even tougher in the Keys.

Anyway....we will update the journal again in a couple of days and share with you what is going on and any changes to our agenda.....we hope to see Saint Agustine Florida on this trip as well.

Don't forget to check our ITINERARY (located on the welcome page) for where what is in the plan for this year. Of course all of our plans are subject to change depending of the Lord's will in our lives.

Happy New Year to all!!

In Dad's memory the ADVENTURE continues.........

Late Alligators,

Archie, Chris and Chad the Wonder Dog!!
