Mike and Jodi's Central American Journey 2009 travel blog

I typed this once and lost it so hopefully it works this time. we wanted to see the Poas Volcano but it won{t be open for a long time due to the recent earthquake.

We woke up this morning to the most miserable weather possible in the ¨not as rainy season¨. Lovely

The fogged windows made views impossible from the bus ride up the volcano. When we got to the top it was pouring rain. Oh well. We´re likely not coming back so we decided to hike it and got totally soaked seeing a view of.....black ash. It was way too foggy to see the crator.

Our next stop was the Lankester gardens, absolutely gorgeous in spite of the rain. Bromeliads were everywhere, I´ve never seen so many varieties, and the orchids have just started blooming.

Lunch was served amidst many more orchids. A tree blew down while we enjoyed the delicious food. Have I mentioned it was a lovely day in paradise? LOL

The Orosi valley is beautiful according to the pictures. We couldn´t see much

We toured the magnificent Basilica de Los Angelas (church of Angels) which has it´s own legend attached about a little girl finding a doll in a creek....

Tonight we meet with the people we´ll be travelling with over the next couple of weeks. There will be 8 of us and our guide´s name is John. Hopefully the weather improves for Arenal tomorrow!
