Ravi --

Well, Montevideo was far from our favorite big city in Latin America.

We only allocated one day here, on the way from romantic Colonia to the beaches further east. That was more than enough!

Unbeknownst to us, Saturday is apparently a bad day to visit, and the downtown is completely deserted, museums and restaurants mostly closed. We finally found some life at the Port Market complex, an atmospheric busy indoor market with restaurants and street performers outside. But beyond this city-block-sized area, not much else to offer besides a few pretty and large plazas.

That night, we tried to see a tango performance, but instead of dance we received only a guitar player and singer, definitely not what we had hoped for.

We were ready to go the next morning and get away from this unremarkable capital city!
