Christmas 2008

Happy New Year. We enjoyed a pleasant NY with friends Cheryl and Mike, whom me met originally at Texan Bay Marina in the Rio this summer. We had dinner on their boat and a few drinks, then headed out for some dancing at Fosters. It was a fun night and VERY late! Enough fun for us for a while.

The four of us climbed up a little trail leading from the shore near our boats one day, which led to a road leading the the main road to West Bay. It was a steep climb but worth it for the view. Mike and I climbed a partially constructed lighthouse for an even better view while Cheryl and John cringed watching us from below. It wasn't long before a security guard, very friendly and polite, asked us to please come down. On our way up the hill we stumbled on a beautiful big terrantula.

I went into Coxen's Hole with Cheryl one day for a girls' shopping trip and we both enjoyed it very much. It's nice to have a woman to do such things with. John and Mike were waiting for us at the Barefoot Beach Bar when we returned and we enjoyed a cold rum punch.

Today our morning began with a big BANG! Sipping coffee, listening to our generator and suddenly. BANG. Then nothing, No more generator. Muerto, dead, finito! You can see the huge hole in the block in the closeup that the Captain took after a few four letter words and "that's it, I give up".

Well of course we're too far in to give up so we will go on, not quite sure how but we will. There seem to be lots of job opportunities here so I hit the pavement, figuratively anyways. Actually I wandered along the lovely sand road here in West End, asking if restaurants were hiring servers. I have one possibility at the Lighthouse, I'm headed back that way at noon to speak to the owners. Keep your fingers crossed, looks like this old broad may be coming out of retirement.
