|We stayed at our first "urban RV resort." It was a relatively small RV park with about 55 concrete pads. Casitas, very small mobile homes (kitchen appliances, eating area, 1 bedroom, 1 bath) that you can buy for about $40,000, were on about half of the pads. We presume they are used by snowbirds moving to AZ to escape the winters in the north. I'm not sure what the advantage is but they are very popular with snowbirds in the Phoenix area. In one "RV park" which was 95% casitas, pads with casitas and storage sheds sold for $80,000 to $150,000. Strange.
We spent our time getting together with former CA friends now living in AZ. Bill and Kathy (my college roommate) came down to visit from Prescott. Ron and Addie, former Mission Viejo friends now living in Scottsdale, joined us for dinner one evening. Len and Muriel, showed us around their very impressive Del Web community of Sun City Grand. The weather was perfect and we had a very nice stay.
We are now back in California, planning to stay 2 nights near Palm Springs before returning to Orange County by the weekend. We are planning to post a trip summary to this web site in the near future.
