Monday November 10th

We decide to head out to Pisa before going to Venice since it is only an hour outside of Florence. We get there take the funny pictures and then have lunch and then go back to the train station so we can get on our way. Well apparently the Italians like to go on strike and we cannot get another train out of Pisa until like 4 in the afternoon! Pisa is a small town and so we decide to just walk around and see it all. Well we find this bike thing for rent. it is a four person bike and it is set up like Fred Flinstones car but instead of running with our feet we just peddle. Ashlee and myself get up front with the steering wheels while Cates and Kendra are in back. kendra is to short and can't reach the peddles and Cates is holding the map and our bags so she can only peddle with one leg. So that leaves Ashlee and myself and Ashlee is not the most inshape person. This is where it gets fun. There are lots of little hills! They give you a map so that you can stay on certain streets and off the main roads. Well about 5 minutes into it we ask Cates which way to turn and realize in the excitement that the map has been dropped and lost. So we make our own way. We are on the main roads and people are laughing histarically at us and asking us for rides. It was so much fun. On one sidewalk though we are trying to get down while a man who is like 60 is trying to get up. Somehow I have been nominated to be our PR person anywhere we go. So step out trying to talk with him to figure it all out before I say anything he assumes I am Dutch and starts speaking to me in that language (i don't even know what language it is) but I recognize it because apparrently everyone assumes I am Dutch because I get ask that first before they ask if I am American and a lot of people speak to me in that language. It is not until I get the blank look on my face and in plain English I say "uhm We are lost." Then they always go "ahh Americano" then they try speaking broken English. Well back to the story this man does not know any English and he is speaking in a stern voice but smiling. So I don't know if he is mad or happy or both. So I am trying to push our mini tonka bike off the sidewalk while nodding and smiling at him like I know what in the world he is saying! All in all it was a great day with bike riding and just relaxing. We get back to Florence just in time to catch the 4 hour train to Venice. It is like 8 o'clock now and Kendra and I had a bottle of wine at dinner and decide to keep the party rolling. Since we can't go on a pub crawl because it will be to late when we get to Venice we decide to go on a carrige crawl and run from train carriage to train carriage meeting people! It was so much fun. P.s. they have bars on trains it is awsome! So we make some Brazilian friends and also Canadian! We roll into Venice at about 2 in the morning!
