Nancy Jo and I. Can you believe she's 72?

Let me fill you in on the tour group. There were two busses; my bus had 46 people. Of the 46, 7 were women traveling alone (see mom, i'm not the only crazy one; I told you, women do it every day). We ranged in age from me, 26, to Nancy Jo, 72. Last night several of us sat around the hotel lobby drinking and discussing life, politics, love, traveling, etc. It always amazes me how you can have a wide range of women who don't know eachother, but can inspire and support eachother. I must say that all of the women looked much younger than they are...all of them. I attribute it to trips like this. It was very enjoyable evening.

My favorite of these women is Nancy Jo, as I said 72. She is from Akron, Ohio and is a retired school teacher. She was divorced in 72 and has never remarried. She is spending her retirement money traveling the world; she said the last 15 years of retirement have been the best of her life. She is wonderful. Today she and I caught the metro to the Plaka district to shop. We spent several hours sitting at cafes talking...about everything. She gave me advice on life and told me her lessons learned; all of which I took to heart. I can only hope that I will be as active and inspiring as she is when I am her age.

We went to the market where I bought a 1/2 kilo of kalamata olives, 2 pomegranites, and some special, crunchy treats for dad. I paid 1 euro for a 1/2 kilo of kalamatas...God bless Greece!! I'm gonna try to sneak them home in my checked luggage...we will see.

Tonight will be dinner and early to bed..I'm getting up at 4:45 to get my stuff together and catch the train by 5:50 or so to the airport. My flight leaves Athens at 9am.

This has been a fabulous trip. The food, the people, the landscapes of Greece are beautiful and welcoming. This history is rich and vast. Due to the tour, I have learned a lot. Oh yeah, last night when we were unloading the luggage from the bus at the hotel, our tour guide's luggage was stolen!!! Nice, huh??? Anyway...God again has blessed me with safe travels and allowed me to meet many amazing people. I was indeed a little worried about touring with all old people, but they were all pretty fun. There was a couple from Kansas City too!

Well, I am off to find food here in a bit. See you in a few long, butt-numbing hours.

Love,

jeanna
