November 7-
We fly out to Rome around 6 in the morning!! As we get on the flight for some reason I started hyperventilating and getting nervous. The night before I had a really bad dream about being in an airplane as it feels up with water. So I turn to Cates and ask her how much water we fly over. It turns out we are only going over the English Channel basically but I still freak out. Cates just laughs at me and tells me to calm down ha ha. obviously I was worried about nothing but I just in case I sat by the exit, always have to have a getaway plan. Ok back on track in Rome. So we find our way to our hostel but it turns out it is more like we just have a room in an apartment. It was really nice and a five minute walk from the Coleseum!! So we put our stuff in our room and then we were off! The weather was amazing. We didn't even need jackets. So we go to the Coleseum and decide the line is to long and we will do that first thing in the morning. Then we decide we should take a bus tour since the city is so big. I actually stayed awake the whole time!! Everywhere you turned there was an ancient Roman ruin or some amazing building. The clouds were big and full this day and so in most of our pictures it looks like we are on Mount Olympus or something. So we are cruising around on this tour and non chalauntly the say o and over there is where Julius Ceasar was killed and literally there are some ruins in the middle of a square with all of the buildings. There is so much history in Rome that is wasn't even one of the main stops. But of course it gets dark so early around here that at like 5 you have to get off of the bus because its to dark to really see anything. So what do we do of course. Walk around and shop. The streets are very narrow and very confusing so we just walk and don't really pay attention. We ended up walking up to the famous fountain Trevi by chance and so that was amazing to see. We also found the Pantheon. We eat at a nice side walk cafe and hang out till around 11 that night. We we get back we ask if the other two girls have checked in and they say no and since there flight got in around 10 we start to worry. Well turns out that they said they would check in at like 5 and since this isn't a hotel the people are there at certain times not all night and the girls almost didn't have a place to stay. But it all got worked out. It was very dramatic but since I think they are rude and selfish I went to sleep and let them figure it out ha ha! Ok next day is Rome we wake up and are first in like to see the Coleseum then we are off to hurry and try and see St. Peter's inside and the Sistine Chapel before it gets packed. We took some pretty funny pictures in the Coleseum and then we were off. So Vatican city is its own city state and so its hard to get into. We were on a side street right beside the wall and are trying to get in. People keep walking up to the guards with id's and then going around. We walk up to the guard and he ask where do we want to go and we say "Vatican City" of course he says no but that is all he says. So we stand there he then turns and ask again (as if he has never seen us) where do you wan to go "Vatican city" we reply and he says no. For a third time he turns and ask where we want to go and we tell him and he just says no and so finally we ask where we can go and and we have to go through the entrance at St. Peters. i felt like i was on Austin Powers where you have to ask three times to get an answer!! So we walk over to St. Peters and its already 11 and so it is packed. We decide that it would take like 3 hours to go through and that we wouldn't make it out to Pompeii or Naples. So we head to the train station. I know I will be back and I don't want to rush through such an amazing place. So off we go!
