Driving along the Colorado River in Fort Mojave, AZ, we came upon the Arizona Veteran's Memorial. We were touched by the Vietnam Veterans' memorial, and by the 9-11-01 memorial. The walk of memories is a work in progress, funded entirely by donations to the local American Legion, but it is dramatic, as it is beside the river, and the sculptures and messages are touching, to say the least!
Also in Fort Mojave is our friends' house. Sal and Karen live here, but they are originally from New York. While we were visiting them, Karen pointed out a roadrunner sitting out on the patio. Steve, of course, took a picture.
We continue to have hot, dry weather, but it's cooling down to the high 80's and low 90's this week! Bullhead City is very hilly, with washes and arroyos all over, but Fort Mojave is on a plateau, and it's a bit more level, except the slope down to the Colorado River. Across the Colorado is Laughlin, Nevada. But for the casinos, Nevada is unimproved desert landscape, relentlessly beige, hot, and dry. We are looking forward to our next adventure.
