Alan & Teri's Travels travel blog

Carlyle Lake is just such a heavenly place it can easily drain all the tension from a body. We walked around the campground a couple of times. We found and took pictures of the Great Blue Heron that has claimed this territory.

We moved slowly today. Finally, in mid-afternoon, we decided to go into town and find a car wash to see if we could remove some of the insect carcasses and cross-ccountry dust from our van. This task accomplished, we picked up some fruit and vegetables then headed back to the campground.

Since all sites at Carlyle Lake are booked for the weekend, we have to leave in the morning. We decided to see if we could get a campsite in western Indiana and take in the Covered Bridge Festival. After trying four different campgrounds, we decided the Covered Bridge Festival was not to be at this time.

We both decided we’d like to reserve a site at Carlyle Lake for a week, perhaps next year. Maybe then we could plan to be around for the Bridge Festival and have reservations to boot.
