We left Iguazu late in the Afternoon on another long overnight bus heading across the north of Argentina towards the Andes. Arriving very early in the morning we were tired and hunrgy and found a place to rest for a few hours before setting out to wander the streets. Salta is a beautiful colonial town, one of the nicest we visited with lots of history and not being too large it was fairly easy to navigate on foot. The next morning we walked up a huge hill to a lookout where we got a 360 degree perspective of the area.

A few days later we jumped on a bus and headed about 3 hours south into a desert town called Cafayate. Whilst there we managed to walk close to 30km along a hot desert road to see the area known as Cerro de Carahuasi- an area of mountain range covered in amazing sandstone rock formations. It was a long hot day but we had a great time being so far away from it all and getting some good exercise.

We got back to Salta and found a really nice hostel to stay in. We met some nice travellers and stayed up late at night playing poker and did pretty well for beginners.

Whilst in Salta we got to watch Argentina win gold at the Olympic's in football. The game was at 3am but everyone watched it and celebrated throughout the next day. The atmosphere was electric and it was a great way to finish our time in Argentina.
