Yesterday we returned to civilization from Jackson Lake State Park and delivered Ben and Sam to their Dad.
They weren't quite ready for the adventure to end but Grandma and Grandpa were a little worn down. We did have a great time though. Our first full day was cold and windy so we spent a good deal of time inside. Thank goodness our kids got us a WII system for our 40th wedding anniversary. The WII Sports was a real hit, with tennis, baseball, bowling and a few others to play. We have another disc that is called WII Play. It has cow races that gets a lot of giggles.
I had planned a number of secretly educational nature activities that included collecting leaves and listening for nature sounds. Ben was very pleased that he found a gopher snake and announced the find on the walkie talkies. I sent Grandpa to make sure we were talking gopher and NOT rattlesnake. He was also pleased to discover coyote scat in a number of places around the campground. Not surprising since they howled us to sleep each night.
Sam was delighted to be able to find the Big Dipper and Casseopia (sp) . Grandma had gotten him a Star Wars math Leapster disc which he had memorized in no time.
Ben learned to ride my 6 speed bicycle so I think we've figured out what to get him for his birthday in a week or so.
Chuck just called to let us know that Andrea has arrived home safe and sound from the Dominican Republic. We will meet up with them tomorrow to get the full story of her adventure.
