| Day 179 Wednesday 8th October Berlin Ohio Page 79 NK 14 What a gloomy day it is outside – it’s been heavy rain most of the nite and it’s still continuing without any sign of let-up this morning. Getting up and dealing with the morning routine doesn’t seem to have any urgency when it’s like this, hence our departure time was not too early. The countryside is rather pretty, well from what we can see it is. We are driving through the Amish Byways which doesn’t have the stunning mountain peaks, or the raging rivers as we have seen on this trip, but it does have the simplistic look of rolling green hills, plenty of farming land and the quiet life style. To the ‘outsider’ their way of life is perhaps quaint and old-fashioned with their horse and buggies, no electricity to the homes (mind you if they purchase a building that has electrical wiring already there – that’s OK to use we’re told), they chose this way of life and it’s their interpretation of the bible. After driving for an hour or so Steve decided it would be better to try and sit out the weather today. We booked into a RV park early afternoon and spent the time more productively learning about our new software program to produce a slide presentation on DVD. I was impressed with the caravan next door where the guy had made as clothesline that is attached to the back bumper bar. I have taken a few photos and will make one when I get home for our caravan. It has been nice to relax for the afternoon and catch up on a few things. |
