Ian & Jennifer's Trip travel blog

We arrived at half 2 today, after 16 and a half hours on the train. The train wasn't too bad, we got blankets and pillows and stuff, but I suppose for the price of the tickets you'd expect that. The station we arrived into was about 15 miles from where we wanted to be and we had a bit of an argument with a taxi driver to bring us there. We settled on 300 rupees, about 5.50euro, but when Jennifer paid him he disappeared into the cab and came out with two one hundred notes and a ten and said thats what we gave him. You should have seen Jennifer..... I know I'll be behaving for the rest of the year! She tore into him, slammed the money in his hand and stormed off (I didnt storm off i just wasnt takin his crap n he's lucky he got any money at all with the stunt he tried to pull). I hadn't a clue what was goin on, neither did the taxi man!

The hotel we got is beside the station so its handy cos we've another train to Goa at 7 in the morning. It's kind of expensive though. It's mad that there is such a difference between rich and poor, there are miles of shanty towns/huts, I've never seen so many in my life. It's terrible. There are so many children begging too but thats not just here, everywhere we've been there are little children begging!

We went for a walk around the stalls, its nicer here than Delhi cos nobody is as pushy. You can wander and look at the stalls without too much hassle.

So we're off now for our first shower in 2 days and our first meal that didn't come wrapped in foil.....
