| Well this is just a new entry so we can trace it onto the map. Todays day trip was to Wales ..... just because we felt we should. Despite the weather we jumped in the car and headed across the bridge into Wales. Fortunately in Wales the weather picked up a little as we took a stroll along the waterways. Once again we threw caution to the wind and headed out with nothing but tourist brochures showing the way ..... the rough plan to start with was to head across the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains to Brecon. On the way we stopped at a service station to find a new collection of maps (tourist brochures) and found out that a place called Hay-On-Wye is famous for its second hand books and has the largest collection in the world. The perfect place to find the penultimate Harry Potter, so the plans changed. Well not really we went to Brecon, found the tourist information centre and then found a brochure for some fun park just out of Hay-On-Wye which would suffice to show us the way. As it turns out there are quite a lot of second hand books in Hay-On-Wye, including the largest single second hand book shop in the world ...... but do you think we could find the penultimate Harry Potter? not a chance ...... it was as elusive as Ben Nevis and a Quidditch snitch (note Harry Potter reference). The day trip was enjoyable, perhaps not worthy of a blog entry but here it is regardless. On the way home we battled the single pass roads with hedgerow on either side to get through the Black Mountains. There were some impressive views despite it getting somewhat dark however the highlight was an information board which made mention of Sir Nevilles' knob .... which kept us entertained with grade 5 humor for the entire drive home. |
