When we left Elm Creek we were leaving Dave and Trish at the farm and once again we are traveling by ourselves. It was raining when we left and it continued all the way to Lincoln and all that day and evening. Saturday is the Nebraska Cornhuskers football game here in Lincoln. We are probably the only people not wearing a red shirt. Football is the biggest deal for Nebraskans. Of course they always have a good team. Probably because ever boy in the state plays football.
Saturday morning we drove over to the Visitors Center. It turns out it is in the old part of the city and also where they have a farmer's market on Saturday mornings. We didn't buy anything. All the produce looked ugly and it was expensive. While there we got to go on a steam engine the city is saving and a volunteered explained everything to us. We got instructions on what the engineer and firemen did. We got to open and look into the fire box. It was pretty interesting.
The we went to the University of Nebraska's East campus, where they have all their agricultural classes. The have a Dairy Store there. We hoped to get a tour of their plant for milk and ice cream. No luck. We did get a great ice cream cone, two huge scoops for only $2.30. We bought a 1/2 gallon tub and brought it home. We didn't have to worry about it melting. They have it frozen to minus 20 degrees. We then went home so I could watch football. I get several stations in high definition here. Susan went grocery shopping.
