Wimberley to Alaska! travel blog

Since "Day 89" we have followed some very interesting weather patterns. Once we arrived somewhere for the night, the temperature would be nice. By the next morning, a major cold front would slide trough! For example, in Jackson Hole-Wyoming, we arrived with a warm 84 degrees and beautiful. An hour later it hailed with rain and 40 mph winds. The next day, it was still raining and we reached a big 45 degrees around 9 a.m., but by 5 p.m. 43. (This was during Labor Day Weekend). So, we have had beautiful days on the road and raining/cold days at camp…an extension of our summer experience.

Round trip of 10,503 miles in 105 days. (This does not count excursions in our Suzuki) We have had minor road problems with two new tires, four flat tires, broken speedometer cable, transmission problems in the truck and few other little things--as alignments on "Suzie” or a certain WiFi situation. Nothing to compare to many we know! We had full service campsites for only15 nights. We stayed for FREE at 15 sites… and sometime at campgrounds. Nevertheless, we have traveled each road of the Yukon and of Alaska. We did not achieve a few secondary destinations, as: Purdhoe Bay (828 miles dirt road Fairbanks/Deadhorse—most people fly-in), Valdez and parts of the Campbell Highway in the Yukon. It's okay, we have seen enough of the dirt roads or/and rain to last a few years!

Whatever we wrote, it was all-and-all a great adventure and we completed it! With some time to appreciate our accomplishment, we are glad we went to Alaska but would not suggest the trip to any of our FRIENDS… and will not return to the main land of Alaska. Next, we are going along the Inside Passage, by boat.

Stay Tune!

Thanks to all of you who have followed us on this journey that took us from Texas to Alaska and back. Without "MyTripJournal.com" we probably would have turned around at the junction of the Alaska Highway and the Cassiar Highway, but we didn't. We are happy that we didn't because we would have missed new friendships and reinforce old ones. Without Nancy, Lynne & Bill, and Sandy & Jerry our journey would not had been the same.

With Love, be good and be safe; because "Life is Good"
