Kit & Jerry's last day in Hannibal
Sep 10, 2008
|Yesterday was a sunny, cool, autumn day here in Hannibal. I worked at setting up the desk top computer so that I could retrieve the summary of our thoughts about spending two years on the road. I had written that on the desk top and then took that computer apart for travel, using the laptop to write the daily journal, etc.
Once I had the desktop back in operation I pulled up the summary and added the part about work camping. That was a suggestion from Mike Mills who was kind enough to proof read it for me. Thank you, Mike!
I then posted the two year summary late yesterday. I hope it is useful to some of you who are considering this lifestyle.
I would also like to give some of you good folks a "heads up" that I will get to the e-mails and the messages in the journal guest book, soon. I have so many to answer that it will take some time, but I simply must get started as soon as I get some breathing room.
Jennifer dropped by in the morning yesterday and left Colby with us while she attended a meeting and a class at the hospital where she works.
We had fun with Colby and took him for a long walk around the campground. Actually we took him for a long ride in the stroller, but Marilyn & I walked. :) We enjoyed a visit with Jennifer when she returned in the afternoon to pick up Colby.
Marilyn had prepared a BBQ pork loin in the slow cooker and we ate that for lunch.
For dinner, we decided to go out to eat with Kit & Jerry on their last night in Hannibal. As always, it is sad to say so long to good friends, but they are moving on and we will miss them until we see them again next April, when we travel to their home in Brackettville, Texas.
They selected a Mexican restaurant for dinner and we lingered over the meal, enjoying the conversation and the good company.
We were back at our respective homes in time to watch "Big Brother" on TV.
Marilyn & I were both worn out and we slept very well last night.
Today will be a busier day than yesterday. Yesterday was a good day but today we have routine chores to accomplish, phone calls to make, and errands to run.
You know me, I just can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
