Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Yesterday we were awake early because we set the alarm to get up at 5:30 AM. Ugh!!

We did that so that we could sit quietly with our morning coffee before driving to the hospital to meet our daughter, Jennifer, and pick up Colby.

Colby was spending the day with us again, and we were anxious to see his bright smile. We know one thing for sure and that is that it will be difficult to discipline him. He will give you that big smile with those beautiful blue eyes and two dimples, and that will melt your heart. There is no way I can imagine scolding him for anything. Maybe, as grandparents, we can just spoil him and leave the scolding to his Mom & Dad. Yeah, that sounds like a plan to me!

We were back in our little home on wheels by 7:30 AM. Let the spoiling begin! 

We played with Colby, and laughed as he did amazing things. He doesn’t crawl yet but is very close. He actually does sort of scoot backwards, but mainly gets around by rolling over and over until he reaches his goal.

I could have stayed indoors watching him and playing with him all day, but I needed to get a few things done.

I set up our DISH antenna and locked in the 250 stations ok but had to call DISH to get the local channels started for this area. We now have satellite TV!

I also rummaged around in the basement storage area and dug out a few items for our campsite.

We put up three birdfeeders and now have hummingbirds as well as various other birds.

Marilyn helped me with a few other things as Colby watched from the comfort of his stroller.

I took some chili soup to Jennifer, for lunch, and then stopped at McDonalds on the way back to the campground, so that I could use their Wi-Fi to post pictures. I took advantage of that stop to buy a couple of sandwiches and some fries for lunch.

In the afternoon, Kit & Jerry stopped by and I asked permission to take them through the Mark Twain Cave, as I re-oriented myself to give tours. They enjoyed that “Private tour”.

Jerry decided to accompany me on a walk through of the Cameron Cave, but Kit declined that tour, opting instead to walk with Marilyn, as she took Colby for a stroll through the campgrounds.

Jerry and I had a good time going through the Cameron Cave. There is a lot of water in that cave due to the huge amounts of rain they continue to have here in Hannibal.

Jerry enjoyed that tour also, and took quite a few pictures.

Time sort of flew by yesterday and soon, it was time to take Colby back to the hospital to meet his Mommy. We said goodbye to Jennifer and Colby with hugs and kisses.

Marilyn & I had recorded “Big Brother” so we settled down after 8:00 PM to have some chili and rice, while watching TV.

I went to bed shortly after our show ended, so that I could read for awhile before dropping off to sleep.

Yesterday was another good day and we just can’t wait to see what this day has in store…..

P.S. I do have more pictures to post for you and will do that soon.
