After we explored the dirt roads south of Imnaha, we went to the north, along the Imnaha River. We found a few bushes growing alongside a stream. The berries are delicious, and I thought they were kind of large blackberries, but they may be marionberries, and I don't really care what they are called, they are in the freezer, and I have a recipe! We never made it to Hell's Canyon that day; after 20 miles on a dirt road we met people coming back. They told us it was another hour away and too crowded with jet boats coming down from the other direction. Hell's Canyon Recreation Area is huge, hostile, and gorgeous - the Imnaha valley pictures are spectacular. Back at the campground, we had our own stream, or irrigation ditch, right behind the coach. What a peaceful setting! Unfortunately, autumn reared its ugly head the following morning, and we were happy to set off for Boise, Idaho, where the expected temperatures are above 80 for the next few days. Enjoy the pictures!
