The road from Darwaz to Khorog is challenging! At the same time the views and scenery are absolutely stunning (no picture can reflect it). It travels all the way along the border with Afghanistan which is marked by a wild river at this time of the year when the snow and ice from the glaciers is melting and the ice cold water follows the rules of gravity.

At some point during the trip there were road works going on. They didn't hold us up for very long and it was interesting to watch, these workers have courage to manoevre with the heavy equipment on this road which is sooooo small!

We made it to Khorog by noon and after a relaxing lunch in the lush gardens of the Serena Inn we walked around town admiring the many statues and absorbing the busy-ness of people going about their daily business.
