The road up to Voss

Arrived Wednesday morning to a cooler Oslo, a little rain around. Trained and trammed into town and to Rachael and Diccons apartment to a late lunch. Rachael had work to finish off so caught up with Ross Baker and Ann down-town and wandered around the waterfront - the sun came out! Had a beer each at an old pub - cost 250kroner or NZ 15dollars each for 400ml - welcome to Norway!! Pizza for dinner for all of us back at R&Ds finished the night off.

Thursday all 6 of us met at the train station at 8am and trained for 4.5hrs towards Bergen on the west coast, thru valleys, past lakes, onwards across higher - 1200m ASL barren rocky landscapes with snow and Finese glaciers - to Myrdral. Caught the steepest railway via countless waterfalls and 6km of tunnels to Flam. And amongst a packed train of pushy tourists! Cruised 2 hours along a Fjord looking up at more waterfalls and caught a bus up the steepest road in Norway to the town of Voss. Trained into Bergen arriving at 8.30pm to our apartment for two days and a late restaurant dinner.
