Someone´s excited

Our next stop was a bit of a pit stop to break up the 28hr bus journey to Iguazu falls. We stopped off in the Southern city of Curitiba for a much famed scenic rail journey from the mountains to the coast. This was after much discussion – with the man who I might remind you loves a good view but will in future be known as Terry – because he thought it was too much money. However, finally the appeal of views won out = and it turned out we had a great time. We arrived on Saturday after sleeping not so well on the bus, so after a magnificent lunch at the local market, we decided to have a rest day and we lounged around in bed and caught up on some of the Olympics (well the brazilian events anyway – mostly beach volley, we also caught the end of movie marathon on the Sarah Connor Chronicles). So bright and early on a cold sun morning we set off on our trip with a tonne of other (mostly brazilian) tourists. It turned out to be great – it was quite different to anything else we´d done so far and the mountain vistas were just gorgeous. We decided to stop off in a little town called Morretes which was very picturesque and had a lunch of the local speciality – a clay spot stew, and then headed back on the bus (much cheaper) and caught the overnight bus to the Iguazu falls. We have given up counting the number of hours we have spent on buses as it already runs into the hundreds, and probably won´t take too long to become utterly ridiculous

– “So what did you do in South America?” – oh we just caught the bus mostly – mmm…
