What and adventure- It was Paddy`s birthday, but we set off anyway in the smallest car known to mankind. We filled every inch of it. We thought it might be a few hours driving, but ended up to be all day, while Paddy sat in the back with the bits of wood we collected and his bottles of wine and a bottle of Whiskey- having a party for one.

WE found a great`place to swim in a small river along the way, which helped to calm and cool us. Then we kicked on to try camping in the National parque. Thwarted at the last, we had to take a tour of the parque in the morning, which frustrated me no end- A rule breaker as always, I tried to drive in anyway. So we took the tour and we were joined by a mad cyclist who had ridden from Cordoba and couldn`t even take his bike in by himself.

So The parque ended up being fabulous, and then we learned of a second parque just 90 km away, so we headed off to that one as well- camping below some incredible cliffs. Again thwarted by the camp rangers, we couldn`t get inot the park and caƱon without a guide, so we went on yet another tour of a bunch of big rocks. It was beautiful, but naturally I ws very troubled by the limitations put on me.

The drive back to Mendoza was pretty arduous, but we broke it up a bit, giving Amy and Paddy some driving lessons along the way- what better use of a hire car!!! So Paddy got the curvy road which we drove at a pretty slow pace, but we survived. Amy got the straight roads, but all the obstacles- we even drove through a river at great speed- see the photo- and Amy was very proud of the mess she made!
