This National Park is a quick day trip out of San Jose. We had to wake early to catch view of the crater as after about 10am the fog rolls in and you can't even tell there is a crater below you...you see nothing!
The pictures don't really do this crater justice. It spits steam smelling of eggs (sulfur) at all hours and is apparently Costa Rica's most active volcano.
Wouldn't wanna be around here if it were to blow again!
