Made In China? travel blog

From Baoguo Village we caught the bus to Leshan. Our mission to see the Grand Buddha, the biggest in the world at 71m high. His ears are 7m long and nail on big toe is 8.5m long.

With a few other westerners we first saw it by boat but it is much more appreciated up close. We walked though a temple and up to its head. Carved in the rock, taking over 90 years to create, you can see it has been battered by the elements. They want to protect it in a big bubble. Going down the staircase you feel so small when staring up at it. It was well worth all the money to go see this

After all this we made our way back to the bus station and back to Teddy Bear. With a meal inside us we received a sort of Chinese lesson from and English student who wanted to practice her English. The Chinese are good that way, always wanting to learn and help. My understanding of the language improved a lot, although Chinese is very difficult. Our last night in Emei we didn't want to leave for Chengdu but we knew that Tibet was just around the corner.
