Bridget's Trip! travel blog

I woke up at 8am and rolled over and went back to sleep. The next thing I knew it was 10am – fantastic!!! It was chilly when I got up but Dave and I had decided not to relight the fire this morning as we are heading out for the day. So I had a quick shower and got some breakfast. Once Dave was up and ready as well we headed out for a walk around Lyonville and the forest. We did a circular walk that was lovely. It really is a beautiful area.

We didn’t stop at home for long but instead headed into Daylesford to the local farmers market. Because it was nearly 1pm by this time it was starting to close up but Dave managed to get what he wanted. We then went for a walk down to Lake Daylesford and had a look in the bookshop and a coffee in the café which was lovely. It’s a lovely area with lots of rather posh houses!

We then headed back into the town to run some errands. We had lunch at a cute little deli and then decided to go for a drive around the area. Our first stop was the Chocolate Mill where they make homemade Belgian chocolate! Was a very tasty stop – yummy dark chocolate hot chocolate!

After that we went to Hepburn Springs. Dave hadn’t stopped and wandered around here before so we had a mooch around. We found a fabulous old renovated hotel that has a 1940’s style cinema in its basement. They seem to do some lovely meals and do a great film night special twice a week – unfortunately I am not going to be able to sample this though which is a shame as it looks like it would be wonderful!

On our way home we came across about 20 or so kangaroos in some fields so stopped to take photos. The house was rather chilly when we got back so we decided to get the fire going only this was to prove to be rather more difficult than the other days…for some reason everything seemed really cold and damp and it just didn’t want to light! Eventually after about 2 hours it did take off and finally warm the house! We watched The Queen this evening which was good! We started to watch Little Miss Sunshine as well but gave up after a while as we were both too tired to watch it all.
