SRV memorial

Fountain where the kiddies play

Arrived in Austin and checked into our smelly hotel room. It was $30 though so I can't complain too much. We went to a park to check out the Stevie Ray Vaughn memorial and got to see a lot of dogs playing in the river that ran along park. We made our way to 6th street to check out the music scene. We heard lots of techno booming but not a lot of good live music. Perhaps we were there too late at night. There had been some guys playing jazz at the place where we had supper but they were packing up as we arrived. The food was really good though. Cameron is still talking about how good the ribs were. It was a cajun restaurant (Roux i think) that turns into a nightclub once the restaurant part closes. We did not stick around to watch the transformation. We walked around 6th street for awhile, saw a bearded man who had to be in his 70s dressed up like a cheerleader in a pink hat that looked something like what an elf would wear. We saw a postcard with a picture of the "queen of Austin" on it later that evening. Looked suspiciously like the fella on the street.
