The Fletchers invade France and Switzerland 2008 travel blog

Well, we made it to Switzerland and all is VERY well. Provence was unfortunately a little disappointment for us all. The place we stayed was beautiful, but Provence was actually a little boring without the allure of Tuscany, or even Napa Valley. We had a good time, but wish we had spent only 2 or 3 days there instead of 6. We arrived yesterday in Lausanne Switzerland and were pleasantly surprised with our acommodations at a Swiss Hostel. We are in a quad room with 2 sets of bunk beds, but have a private bath across the hall, so it is quite nice. The price was half that of any of the local hotels!! Today we validated our Swiss Rail Passes and took the boat from Lausanne to Chateau Chillon, an old Chateau on Lake Geneva. We toured the Chateau and then walked along the lake to Montreaux (about 45 minutes) and took the boat back to Lausanne. It is a beautiful trip with vineyards on the hillside. Tomorrow we go on the "chocolate train" to tour a cheese factory and a chocolate factory (we may lose Kendall there!) We love you all and can,t wait to see you all in 8 days!
