We're getting better at getting off at a good hour. Of course, we didn't have to hook up the truck so.....
Left around 11:45 and had an easy drive to Mt. Pocono via I-81 to I-80 to I-380 to SR940 then SR196 and finally, Edgewood Road. Let me tell you, though...you sure can tell when you get into PA 'cause the interstates are horrible. Normally, when I go to set up the inside of the house, everything is where I've put it for traveling. Well, when I went to set up in Mt. Pocono, after traveling I-81 and I-80 in PA, there was stuff all over the place!! I just can't imagine the beating this poor trailer took traveling those highways.
We stopped at Hickory Run Truck Plaza in Lake Harmony to finally weigh the truck and trailer together. Surprise! Only about 914 lbs overweight on the trailer's GVWR. That's not bad at all although I can only imagine how much we weighed when we first started this trip in December of 2007!! Since then, I think we must have unloaded at least 1k pounds of pots and pans, clothing, and "stuff" along the way.
Anyway, arrived at the
Mt. Pocono Campground around 2:30. The campground advertises it's big rig friendly. Well, it might be friendly (and the owners really are friendly) but it's not really big rig sized. The lots are nice and wide but not long enough to park a trailer and TV inline or a large Class A and toad. You have to park horizontally in front of the trailer and hope your dual wheels don't stick out in the roadway. Ours do but there a grassy area across the drive and whoever has to pass can just drive there.
Other than the short lots (and we had one of the longer ones -
HH34, the campground is very nice. Since it's on a hill, the campsites are on "terraces" and each one has a grassy area with picnic bench adjacent to a gravel area with fire pit. Now that we know what to expect, we would stay here again the next time we're in our "home" area.
They do have an exercise room here that I want to check out tomorrow.
We are going to stay here for about 2 weeks while we get the truck checked out and take care of other business and visit with ex co-workers and friends.
