Our Travels travel blog

Hi: We are on our way home to deal with an issue that arose while we were in Washington State. Eventually, we will go back and resume the trip. We don't know if it will be this year or next. Maybe it is for the good though because we had seen so much that things were starting to run together.

Our favorite National Parks were Zion, North rim of the Grand Canyon and Yosemite. Yosemite was the most crowded of the three but we got there later in the summer so schools were out.

The most interesting dining out experience was the Buffalo Grill in Glendale, Utah. They only had wild game on the menu except one vegetarian pasta (which Karen had). They had wild boar, buffalo, rabbit-rattlesnake sausage, elk sausage and I can't remember what else. The restaurant was the only one within 30 miles and only had about 5 tables. They were the nicest people that ran it.

Weirdest thing was the tour bus in Moab and the Tower museum off of I-70 as we entered Colorado.

I think our favorite campground was the last one we stayed in that was in Washington state, Harmony Lakeside. And I think that Diamond Lake near Crater Lake was one of our second favorite at least on this leg of our trip.

We were amazed at the fluctuations in the temperatures. On our day trips there were several times that where the camper was parked was hat and the area we went to see was cold. We learned to carry jeans, jackets and warmer shoes in the car. We saw a lot more snow than we expected too.

On our trip back we passed thru Wyoming which was pretty much a desert. We spent one night in a campground near Lincoln Nebraska (Camp-A-Way). Lincoln appeared to have a lot of things to see so it will be on our list for the next trip. We will also add the Rogue River Gorge in Oregon and the Portland area to our next trip too. We missed Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone and Glacier - again, next trip.

Happy trails,

Karen and Dan
