On the 10th we traveled from Livingston to Anaconda which was a nice morning's drive. We spent one night at Big Sky RV Park in town before our hosting assignment was to begin. There were a lot of visitors in town as there was a regional softball tournament going on in town over the weekend. As it turned out, 3 fellows who were playing in the tournament stayed at Lost Creek State Park right across from us. They said there were 60 teams in their division alone and there were multiple divisions for both men and women. A lot of visitors to Anaconda for the weekend.
On Friday morning we drove out to settle into our hosting duties at Lost Creek State Park. This park is classified as a "primative" site. There is one water pump to service the 21 sites, and there are 4 vault toilets. The park is right on the banks of Lost Creek and is surrounded by National Forest Service land.
Our "supervisor" met us there, having driven out from Missoula for the day. We met people we will interact with periodically and were given an orientation to the Montana State Park system.
Last winter they developed a new host site with all of the amenities. They put in a shed which contains a generator which provides us with electricity as well as runs the water pump to provide us with water and it will also be a second water supply for the campers, once they get the well certified, that is. They also put in a 1500 gallon holding tank which they will pump out when they have to do the vault toilets.
From what others have told us, there has not been a host here for many years. Guess they really want one because they did invest a few dollars to develop this site. Some of the local folks are not happy as they thought of this as their very own private park. But, now with a host, they have to toe the line. So far it has not been a problem.
