Arizona to Washington & return, Summer 2008 travel blog

Central Nevada Museum.

Old west gentleman and lady.

Off we went from Las Vegas. We dropped off the rental car and headed north. Lots of nature to see while headed up this road, as there wern't many towns. This would be the kind of road to carry extra gas. We arrived in Tonopah, we knew we were there as we saw the sign "Tonopah". The campground was also the motel, restaurant and the casino. Yes casino, you know where we spent the evening. But first we walked down the road to the Central Nevada Museum. Lots of things, photos and explanations of the history of this part of Nevada. Talked about the discovery of silver and how they got it out of the ground. A section was devoted to the military as the Army Aircorps had a base nearby where pilots were trained before flying off to fight in WWII. Our evenings final entertainment was listening to the karoake in the bar next to the casino, fun.
