July 1...Woods Landing Campground---Jelm, WY

We went for a good walk this morning before eating breakfast. We stopped at the little store to sign in, which we hadn't done yesterday when we arrived. (It was closed on Monday and the owner was busy in the cafe-he asked to go ahead and set up and register today). We decided to stay here for a total of 7 nights. So we will be leaving Monday morning, July7.

We talked with the owner of the campground and a few of the the campers while we were out walking around. One camper was from Tucson, AZ and the couple next to us is from El Paso, TX. We think meeting others is a part of the fun of traveling. The people we meet have interesting stories and good advice of where to go & what to do while in the area or in places we are going. It turns out the guy from El Paso was stationed at the same base as Joe was in the early 1960's....they had a lot to talk about.

We finally made it back to the RV and had breakfast. We started out planning to just stay here and read, etc. Then we decided to take a ride after talking with our neighbors here. They told us about a dirt road over the Snowy Mountains to a small town....and they stressed what a beautiful drive it is. It really was a pretty ride. There were beautiful valleys, forests, streams, views and wildlife. We saw mule dear, antelope, moose and of course, lots of prairie dogs.

We stopped at the Woods Landing Cafe for lunch. It used to be a dance hall. This dance hall is the craziest thing I've ever heard of....atleast as far as dance halls go :-) It has heavy springs under the wood floor. When the dancers are square dancing or a dance like that....the floor bounces. Just walking on it doesn't do anything and it looks like a normal floor. There are no dances planned while we are here...darn. I'd like to see what this floor does...and how it feels.

Joe & I have just been reading this afternoon (with a little nap in there, just for the heck of it). I found a radio station that comes in here. We are almost totally cut off from the outside world. No cell phone, no TV and no internet, It's a strange feeling ;-/
