On the road again - Wednesday, July 2
We spent the morning doing last minute chores and then followed Marcia to the marina in Wakeford where the Herrons keep their boat. Rand had been working all morning to get the engine back together, and by the time we got there he was nearly finished.
We had lunch together on a shaded patio overlooking the marina and then finally said our goodbyes. It's been a wonderful five days, and we'll always remember their kindness and generosity. Thank you Rand and Marcia - and have a great week on your boat trip to Block Island!
We got back on I-95 and headed north. Our destination was Salisbury, Massachusetts which is in the far northeast corner of the state. We got under way after 2:00 and it's normally about a two hour drive from North Kingston, but as usual we hit the rush hour traffic in Boston. It was gridlock for an hour and a half, and only made 8 miles in all that time.
When traffic finally returned to normal we were within 30 milles of our campground, and by 6:30 we were there. We'e staying tonight at the Black Bear Family Campground in Salisbury, before pushing on to Maine tomorrow. It's the Fourth of July weekend and everything is booked solid. We were very lucky Madolyn was able to find this place in Maine where we can get off the road and hang out until Sunday.
We want to see Boston and more of Massechusetts, but it will have to wait for the trip back, or maybe for another trip altogether. There's just too much to do, and far too little time!
