After expending so much energy at Sinai, all our efforts have been rewarded. It is hard to believe that after a short drive to the other side of the desert is a beautiful beach on the Red Sea. It seems impossible that the two contrasts can exist so close together.
The Red Sea was truly a pleasure to swim in. The water was calm and clear and very warm. It was a special treat because each of us had our own little hut right on the water. It only came equipped with a mattress and mosquito netting, but that was all that I needed.
We spent a full day enjoying the water and soaking in the sun. We were right next to a coral reef which provided hours of great snorkeling. Another fond memory was the carpets they layed on the beach for us to have dinner on and watch the sunset. It was so comfortable that I ended up sleeping on the beach. I couldn't get over the fact that right across the water, I watched the ligths come on in little towns in Saudi Arabia. It is strange to be so close to all the places I have only heard stories about. It was hard for us to leave this beach paradise, but it was time to move on to other things.
