A better photo of Rocky Mountain Sheep

06 18 Rest day in Banff

Morning spent servicing the car – she now has new oil and is greased up everywhere. Although the front brake pads are well used, they will last longer. I made huge adjustment to take up the slack in the handbrake. The car seems to eat handbrake pads, despite the fact it is not used very much. I will have to find out why when I get home. I have swapped the wheels around again, as I have been doing every 2,500-3,000 miles to use the spare and swap front to back. We are running on the very same tyres that did 18,000 miles from London to Sydney plus another 2000 in sundry other use. 8,000 miles into this trip they are still looking good, but I am not sure there will be enough left to drive South America in 2011.

After a soup lunch in downtown Banff and the purchase of a heavier weight pair of trousers – the weather has now turned distinctly colder, we set off for a walk. We took the trail to Stoney Squaw mountain trail and saw Rocky Mountain Sheep, but (fortunately) no bears.
