Terry and Linda first have to say Happy Birthday to their grandson Kaden Smith. He is 7 years old today and we miss him and love him >--------O--------<
We left Watson Lake via the Cassiar Hwy entering B.C. country again. Terry and Bill stopped at Dry Creek to find garnet and other gems - came up empty yet again.
Along the way we spotted a dead black bear. It was apparent that it had been hit and crawled to the edge of the road. It was very sad. We stopped at Jade City. 75% of the world's jade supply comes from this area. Linda bought herself a Inukshuk (In ook shook) meaning "image of man". You may have seen them. They are stacked stone in the shape of a person. The Inuit people used these as markers to get them to their hunting grounds and back home (kind of like bread crumbs). Apparently it will be the logo for the 2010 Olympics (it also means welcome). Along the way we spotted a grey fox by the side of the road. He appeared to have a leg injury. We did the unthinkable feeling sorry for him and tossed him a piece of bread - he went for it fast. We then spotted a very Live black bear feeding along the road side. Seemed not to care that we were there.
We stopped by Simmons Lake for lunch and then moved on to Water's Edge campgrounds in Dease Lake. Its raining so the lake is hard to enjoy. Bill ventured down to get some rocks for his collection. Good reading weather.
