Pompei and Herculaneum amazed me! The quality of life those Romans had-- Heated pools, beautiful 40 room villas, theatres, gymnasiums, spas! Better infrastructure in 79 AD then many cities I have visited today. Not bad being a Roman (unless you were a slave that is) Prostitutes were licensed and trained in their field. Their business fronts included a fresco of available menu of °Options° (positions).

If you are wondering the age long question since we have been to both Pompei or Hurculaneum, I will have to give the age long answer. Both , but if I absolutely had too choose still Pompei. Pompei wins out by being able to see a true city in action, even though Hurculaneum takes the cake for better preserved & less crowded.
