Alaska and Great Northwest Road Trip 2008 travel blog

Started out as a very good day, sunny and calm. We got off early and heading for Beach, ND to get fuel at the Flying J. After about an hour, we ran into rain and wind…and wind..and more wind. Somewhere around 30-40 per hour head wind. Made it fine and fueled up at $4.54/gal. With still more rain, we left I94 and traveled a remote state road up to US 2...and ….we had a flat tire, not one but two, in the middle of nowhere. We called the travel club and the closest service guy was over 75 miles away. After about a 3 hour wait, the guy showed up but couldn’t remove the old tires from the rims. So we took the tires and followed the service truck back 75 miles to his shop. Then Jenny and I drove back to the trailer and mounted the tires. Only a 6 hours delay. I wish someone would have told me to take more than one spare! Made it to the Rancho Campground outside Wolf Point, Mt. about 9:30 pm
