| From the Olympics I traveled on to Sweden after Spending a day in Brussels, Belgium. My good friend Maria Brottel was waiting for me. It was great seeing her in her home country. She had come to visit me and other friends in the US just a few months before. (More to come about my great time in Sweden later) From Sweden I travelled to Denmark where I stayed with 2 amazing people, Anders and Lotte. Anders was a former student of my mentor, Tom Cummings. They had a beautiful home in Copenhagen. Anders two daughters were adorable! I wish I had spent more time there. I then travelled by train to Germany where I finally ended up in Berlin. My friend, Marco, whom worked with me at the Olympics was a most gracious host. He had just moved into a new apartment. Marco is a great guy. At 6 feet 9 inches you cannot miss him. His big stature matches is big heart. He toured me around the city over the course of 5 days. It was great to celebrate my 21st birthday with him on September 11th. From Berlin I travelled to Amsterdam. Interesting place! Very liberal. The higlite of my stay there was touring the city by boat. It is a city of many beautiful bridges. On the way I was able to see the Anne Frank house and many other famous buildings. I made one more trip to Brussles where I caught my flight to Uganda, Africa, my main destination for the year! |
