The Beginning travel blog

We have had a couple of fun days in the West side of Minneapolis….We have been running around to a bunch of shops that we don’t get to very often… First on our list was Camping World… Now that was fun because we really didn’t need anything so we had lots of time to just look… We came out of there with a couple of small bungee cords and some laundry soap… Not bad uh??

From there we went to one of the big shopping areas in Maple Grove… We had lunch at an Irish restaurant and then window shopped along the streets… Well I did go into one place and buy some slacks but otherwise, we just looked….

Not too far from us is several RV Dealers with tons of RV’s on the lots…. We have been quite interested in one brand of Class A’s for quite awhile now and since we had the time, we went to see them….We really like what we found but are not sure if we want to give up our 5th wheel Montana… The Montana has been wonderful and we know that we have really lucked out to get such a trouble free unit…. We also love the space that the 5th wheel has inside when the slides are open…. We also think that we will eventually park our 5’er on our lot in Florida and leave it there for us to live in when we feel like we should get off the road…. On the other hand…

The Class A motor home is so easy to drive and set up….. Usually it is just a matter of pushing some buttons and hooking up your sewer and plugging in the electricity…It is also a very smooth ride when traveling… On the other hand……

It is way more expensive than a 5th wheel but you don’t need a big truck to tow it.. However, you do need a small car to tow behind or else you would have to move every time you went to the grocery store… The small car would cost a lot less than a big truck and the gas mileage would be way better… On the other hand……

The Class A is WAY more expensive…. Decisions, Decisions…

Oh well, we won’t do anything until we get back from Newfoundland anyway unless something just falls into our lap….

We got the truck back from the garage last night and whatever was wrong with it was covered by our extended warrantee except for the $100.00 deductible and another $550.00 worth of maintenance we had done to it….This was all necessary maintenance that we set aside a little each month for so even tho it cost us quite a bit, it was something we had budgeted for… That is one thing we would like to stress for those of you that are wanting to travel the way that we do… We have seen several that have had to get off the road because they haven’t planned for the necessary or unexpected expenses that can and will occur. You must have a budget and it must include maintenance and repairs.

Yesterday we went to the pharmacy and filled up our prescriptions before we left the country…. I have been buying my blood pressure pills at Target and have always paid the $4.00 per month for generic so I was quite surprised when this time my 90 day supply cost me $24.00.… Seems that Minnesota is one of about six states that can charge more than the $4.00 advertised price… Bummer… When I got them in Florida it only cost me $12.00.…Oh well, I am very fortunate that I only take one pill a day and it is not expensive so I’m really not complaining… Just stating a fact….

Today we will go back to the East side of the Metro… Tomorrow night we have our first graduation to go to… Jacob graduates from Oakdale and we will be in the audience watching him walk across the stage…. Later……
